Laser Eye-Color Surgery of the Day: Laguna Beach doctor Gregg Homer says his company, Stroma Medical, is very close to putting the finishing touches on technology that can permanently change a brown-eyed person’s eye color to blue.

“We use a laser, and it’s tuned to a specific frequency to remove the pigment from the surface of the iris,” explains Dr. Homer, who says the process is made possible by the fact that all brown eyes are blue underneath.

The procedure is still about a year away from being perfected. A roll-out to eye-color consumers in the US is expected within the next three years.

The treatment will set you back about $5,000, but who put a price on vanity?

Botox can blunt emotional understanding

With key areas surrounding his or her eyes immobilized by Botox, subjects would be unable to reproduce fully the emotional expression of a conversation partner. Because mounting evidence suggests that we use mimicry to register and label the emotional states of others, a procedure (or a disorder or injury) that limits our ability to reproduce another person’s expression of emotions would likely impair our ability to register or label those emotions, Neal said.

Ironic that pharmaceuticals of desire can potentially make you less desirable while you remain completely unaware.
