Laser Eye-Color Surgery of the Day: Laguna Beach doctor Gregg Homer says his company, Stroma Medical, is very close to putting the finishing touches on technology that can permanently change a brown-eyed person’s eye color to blue.
“We use a laser, and it’s tuned to a specific frequency to remove the pigment from the surface of the iris,” explains Dr. Homer, who says the process is made possible by the fact that all brown eyes are blue underneath.
The procedure is still about a year away from being perfected. A roll-out to eye-color consumers in the US is expected within the next three years.
The treatment will set you back about $5,000, but who put a price on vanity?
